#rg: khal_essie | Have you ever felt guilty for being depressed? Have you ever felt like you don’t ‘look’ depressed or like you don’t have a life ‘worthy’ of depression? I’ve seen so many people writing on this topic lately. I have days where I sit and look around at my life and think “this is what you’ve been working for for so long, how dare you be this sad?” I take stock of every little thing going the way I’d hoped it would thinking it will magic depression away. But it doesn’t. Then, I start to feel guilty. Someone else would love this life. Someone else would cherish this. I’m ungrateful. Why am I not more thankful for what I have? However, the truth is, you can be thankful and depressed at the same time. We are complex creatures like that. We can feel many things at once and instead of letting that be, we often invalidate ourselves. Feeling guilty for being depressed doesn’t stop you from being depressed. Feeling guilty for feeling doesn’t make those feelings go away. I think we all need to cut ourselves some slack in the mental health department honestly. It’s so easy to beat yourself up over not being completely happy, to beat yourself up over struggling. Recovery from anything, whether it’s mental health disruption, addiction, toxic relationships, trauma, or physical illness can feel daunting. When we want relief from suffering, we want it quick. No one wants to feel pain, fear, sadness, or anger for long periods of time. This is why many of us look for quick ways to get better. We look to experts and gurus for weight loss tips, physicians for pain relief, and therapists and self-help books for mental health, addiction, and trauma treatment. We go to churches, synagogues, temples, and mosques for religious guidance. The reality is, there is no one way or right way to heal. What works for one person may not work for another. This is part of the reason why we’ve seen so many diet fads come and go. Scientific research has always been proving new methods and debunking old ones of recovery. Often we get stuck in the idea that there is only one way to get better and that is a trap. First because it’s not true, second because it limits our options, and third because if we have a hard time sticking to the prescription we feel like failures and give up. In the realm of psychology, there are many well researched and effective tools for managing trauma and addiction. Many therapy modes, many types of social support, spiritual support, self-care, and coping skills. This is why you can see 10 different therapists with different trainings and find effective relief. #painsomnia which is of course pain + insomnia This is one of my main issues/symptoms and I wanted to talk a bit about it. My medical team as presented it in a way that really clicked for me. Increased pain = increased anxiety = decreased sleep = increased pain = increased anxiety and it becomes an infinite pattern without proper treatment. I am better managed but when I am having more flared symptoms/sustain an injury as I recently did, this familiar issue comes back. It is a very isolating and overwhelming cycle. Pain management, treatment of complex mental health issues, and at times sleep aids may be used. For some investigating potential sleep disorders like sleep apnea may be important. How do you cope with painsomnia? WhT do you do whan you can’t sleep? I like to read, watch familiar movies(be careful of light sensitivity/further triggers to stay awake), brainstorm ideas for projects and practice aesthetic self care with things like skin care. "How do I let go of the past?"...This question has been a theme in most of my calls this week. You want to move on but can't. You find yourself always thinking about the memories. You can't seem to let go of the pain or the guilt around what's been done. The different scenarios are endless, but the reasoning around it is simple. Our attachments are based on emotional charges. Meaning, there needs to be an emotion attached to a thought in order for us to experience a certain feeling...Because essentially, a thought without a feeling attached to it has no meaning to us. So how do we weaken the emotional charges we have to certain thoughts? By disrupting those negative thinking patterns ⚡️ Everytime you find yourself dwelling in the past, quickly shift your attention to something more positive & empowering. This gear switch cuts off the emotional charge to those negative thoughts. (It's hard at first, but so necessary if we want to change those old emotional habits). Over time, you'll find that those memories won't faze you as much, and your new empowering stories will become more real. What we feed grows stronger ✨

Ideally, I'd love a wake n bake. But im #broke and can't afford to smoke as much as I want to. So the next best thing, CBD in my coffee! .🌿 I am very caffeine-sensistive (comes w the chronic insomnia) and sometimes if I overdo it w the caffeine OR if I'm already feeling anxious, the caffeine aggravates my anxiety symptoms. . 😬 I have benzos (clonazepam) to help but I find CBD works so much faster and it's a hell of a lot less addictive. I drop a few drops in my coffee and I don't get the jitters. I want to get a CBD vape pen bc one of my friends let me try hers when I was feeling v anxious and it worked wonders. This is a visual representation of what depression can look like, the different symptoms of depression all feed of each other and creates a knock on effect which can then create a vicious cycle. This is what depression looks life for me, once you get into this cycle it’s hard to pull yourself out of it. For me this cycle has been going on for years, I get a glimpse of happiness but then I get sucked back into this cycle. Isolation is the one that gets me the most, I’ve become more aware of the fact that I isolate myself from those around me especially when I’m feeling low. During this cycle I’m very irritable and struggle to cope with being around people which also leads me to isolate myself. I’ve always liked being alone but I’ve learnt that things aren’t going to change if I keep isolating myself. I know I am not alone in feeling like this, I think we all need to remember to surround ourselves with people who understand us and can support us, being around positive people can have a positive affect on you especially when you are feeling down. Even if you feel like you’re alone you are never alone and there is always going to be someone that loves you. 🌟Update🌟 So it's been a while... The last 2 weeks have been super chaotic and a bit of a blur to be honest. I have been feeling badly depressed especially during the last week and my motivation to do anything has hit rock bottom. It's been a massive struggle to get into school and it has gotten to the point where my schoolwork is overwhelming me, and I have no motivation to do any of it :( this really stresses me out because I have always been a good student and some part of me wants to do the work but it's like hitting a brick wall. Luckily my head of year is an absolute angel and is helping me sort all my mess out! I have my mocks after the holidays as well which doesn't help anything. At least I have started anti-depressants now (fluoxetine) and my mood should regulate in time for my exams, but for now I have to deal with some stupid side effects (nausea and dizziness). A defense mechanism. Many people are affected by dissociation, much more than the reported cases, because it is often confused with day dreaming. Hey everyone! 😊 Honesty time.. I’ve been abit AWOL from Instagram and this page recently. I’m still making every effort to make swaps in my day to day life, but I just had to take a break from social media. It was getting to the point that I was actually feeling worse for the changes I hadn’t made yet, and constantly felt like I wasn’t doing enough 😔. • Taking a step back has definitely helped me get my balance back, and take some time for myself. I didn't want to admit it but gaining a few pounds has gotten to me. It shouldn't because going up a few pounds and down a few pounds while overall maintaining my weight isn't that bad or detrimental to me or my health. Its normal. But it has gotten to me. Ive been trying to force the weight back off by falling into old habits which leads to do old things. Over cardio Over eat The guilt It happens to me. And it's been happening. Im not sure if its just me, weather, time of year, or other factors in my life. But i know the more I force it, the more my body fights back at me. My body is smart. It knows what it is doing. And i know what I need to do. Release the reigns Decrease the stress Eat healthy and foods that don't cause inflammation in my body Drink more water Eat less crap. Ive been eating a ton of crap Sleep more And just relax. 10/12/2019 Day 8 Breakfast: Microwaved egg (1) Crumpet (1) Blackberries (100g) Lunch: Warburtons thin (1) Laughing cow light cheese (1 triangle) Apple (1 medium) Dinner: Pork loin medallion (1 medium, roast, with spices) Broccoli (300g,salted lightly) Dessert: Arla passion fruit and papaya protein yogurt (1 pot) I've got my next CAMHS appointment tomorrow. The full psychiatric team will be there, along with a dietician. I think they will give me an official meal plan and I'm honestly so anxious. I'm really dreading it. As much as I want to recover, I don't at the same time. It sounds dumb, I know, but a part of me wants to stay the same. I don't want to gain weight. I don't want to look different. I don't, but I don't want to live like this anymore. It's tiring and exhausting. I'll update you all tomorrow on my stories and in my next post, so keep an eye out for that. A n x i e t y 💔 . . Lately my good old friend anxiety has come back to visit. Anxiety started when I was 15 years old and continued through my teenage years and throughout my twenties. Going through therapy in my early thirties helped me process deep seated emotions. The greatest learning was to befriend, listen and take care of the inner child in me that felt sometimes neglected. . . It wasn’t until I got closer to the practice of deep breathing and meditation though, that I started learning to sit with fear, rather than want to run away from it. . . And every day since that discovery, I have tried to make mine the concept of impermanence, that nothing is really meant to stay. All will pass. Joy. Excitement. Content. Security. Pain. Discomfort. Disappointment. . Anxiety can come back hitting like we are still the old version of ourselves trapped in a cage of uncertainties: . . These days I am taking care of myself with the things that give me balance and ground me: Silence Aloness Reading Nature’s fractals A morning meditation . . If you too suffer from anxiety, I hope you have someone to speak to and get support from. . . If you are struggling: ➡️ Speak to someone you trust ➡️ Consider therapy ➡️ Work with a naturopathic practitioner to rule out underlying causes of anxiety such as Nutritional deficiencies, Gut inflammation or Adrenal/ Thyroid dysfunction ➡️ Download a meditation app on your phone or join a class ➡️ Make your best effort to get plenty of sleep, eat a healthy diet, move your body often, and learn to say NO ➡️ Do not be ashamed and know that you are not alone- you have the ability to heal within you. . . Pasta Carbonara, crafted with love. . Cooking is absolutely an art, and it is very much a part of my art. I typically cook without recipes and improvise ingredients when I feel like it. I know carbonara never contains honey, but I felt like it, and I enjoy what it did to the dish, so it’s part of /my/ carbonara. . When following a recipe to a t, one is not cooking- they are following instructions, similarly to if a musician does exactly what is on the sheet music, they’re not /really/ making music- they are following instructions. Art is about making decisions, taking risks for high rewards, breaking rules to push the limits of what is acceptable, and finding creative ways to overcome very real problems. I use cooking to inspire all of this in my drawing, painting, writing, acting, singing, whatever. When I am lost for words in writing, or imagery isn’t coming to me, I know it’s time to set up a lovely meal and cook to spark creativity in my mind, to feed my body, and to revive my good mental health. To cook for one’s self is to feed the soul. Écrit par stephane_dossvntos Nous sommes tous entourés de nos familles et amis que l'on soutiens dans leurs projets, dans les moments de joies et durant les moment difficiles. Mais en retour, certains de ces proches qu'on a toujours soutenus et/ou assistée, ne nous soutiennent pas ou presque pas quand c'est à notre tour de commencer un projet (Entreprise, Page sur les réseaux, études..) ou lorsqu'on passe une période difficile. Nous ne sommes pas les seuls à vivre un manque de soutien venant des humains : Les Fleurs aussi ! Cependant, la trajectoire d'une fleure est exemplaire. Malgré leurs diversités il n'existe en réalité que 2 types de fleurs : Celles qui poussent dans la nature (Parfois au milieu d'épines ou menacés par la pollution) et celles qui pousse chez un quelqu'un, dans une belle maison ou dans un jardin bien entretenue. Celles qui poussent dans un jardin ou chez une personne sont régulièrement arroser par ce dernier qui en prend bien soin en veillant à ce qu'aucun élément ne nuisent à sa pousse. Mais celles qui poussent en pleine nature ne sont pas à l'abri du danger de la pollution, de la météo (Froid extrême, inondation à cause de la pluie..) et d'autres (Incendies, Déforestation..). Ces fleurs n'ont personnes pour les arrosés chaque jour, elles n'ont que la pluie pour les arrosés et cela ne les empêche pas de pousser et d'un jour être cueillir. C'est pareil pour toi ! Tel une fleur en pleine nature qui n'a personne pour l'arroser sache que même sans le soutien de ta famille ou de tes "amis", même dans un environnement qui ne favorise pas ton épanouissement rien ne t'empêchera d'évoluer. Si même les fleurs en pleine nature bénéficient de la pluie que Dieu leur envoie, sache que Dieu t'arrosera et prendra soin de toi en te donnant du courage, en envoyant des personnes hors de ton cercle primaire (Famille et Amis de longue dates) pour te soutenir dans ta vie, tes projets afin de favoriser ton épanouissement. #wisdom #selfconfidence #mentalhealth #peaceofmind #peace #positividade #positivemind #bestoftheday #believeinyourself #god #confidence #amor
